Blog Analysis

Blogs provide an exciting new way for writers to publish their work. New blogs are started every day as more people start using this revolutionary communication medium to present their ideas. The global nature of the Web allows writers to easily receive feedback from people around the world. Many blogs are playing an important role in covering news and politics. In addition, some blogs are started with a mission to have a positive impact in the personal lives of others.

In their post "Bored? Read this!" (http://www.therebelution.com/blog/2006/02/bored-read-this/), Alex and Brett Harris posted this quote by G.K. Chesterton: "There are no boring subjects, only disinterested minds." In their discussion afterwards Alex and Brett delve into the topic of what boredom really is. Their father has always taught them that "boredom is the mind’s equivalent to hunger". Thinking of boredom as a sign that you need to feed your mind better is a very insightful way of looking at it.

Another gem in Alex and Brett Harris' extensive number of posts is "Stop Wasting Time." (http://www.therebelution.com/blog/2006/02/stop-wasting-time/). In their post they quote Ephesians 5:15-16 which says, "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." Time is a gift from God and we should use it wisely.

Both of the blog entries by Alex and Brett Harris are challenges to "Do Hard Things", which is the battle cry of The Rebelution (http://www.therebelution.com). Alex and Brett present themselves as concerned Christan teenagers who want to have a positive impact on their generation. The primary readers of the Rebelution Blog are teenagers who want to learn how to live for God at a time when the culture is trying to pull them in a completely different way. Alex and Brett's posts are serious reflections about important issues. Their goal is to encourage their readers to live Godly lives in a "crooked and depraved generation" (Philippians 2:15).

In the World Magazine Blog, Mickey McLean recently posted an article titled "Putting creditors before God" (http://www.worldmagblog.com/blog/archives/026381.html). A quote from the post: "A U.S. bankruptcy judge reluctantly ruled last week that bankruptcy reforms put in place by Congress last year must be interpreted to mean that debtors under protection can no longer legally tithe to their church until creditors have been paid off." This presents an interesting dilemma for Christians who have gotten themselves so far into debt that they have filed bankruptcy.

The World Magazine Blog exists to present news from a Christian view. The blog entries come from many authors who contribute their own unique perspectives. This allows the World Magazine Blog to cover a large variety of issues while still maintaining a high degree of knowledge of the topic. The blog exists for Christians who want to see a side of the news that they will not get in their local newspaper or TV news channel.

The World Magazine Blog entries are much shorter than the ones on the Rebelution Blog and are usually written in order to incite debate and thus their posts tend to generate larger numbers of comments. Both blogs present insightful ideas and I encourage everyone to check them out.
