    Guidelines for Sexual Purity

    The following are excerpts that I really like from Guidelines for Sexual Purity by Randy Alcorn, Eternal Perspective Ministries:

    You will inevitably adopt the morality of the programs, movies, books, magazines, music, Internet sites and conversations you participate in. GIGOGarbage in, garbage out; Godliness in, godliness out. The cognitive is basic to the behavioralyou become what you choose to feed your mind on.

    Sow a thought, reap an action;
    Sow an action, reap a habit.
    Sow a habit, reap a character.
    Sow a character, reap a destiny.

    Your future can be accurately predicted by what you allow your mind to dwell on. Sinful actions don't come out of nowherethey are the cumulative product of little moral compromises made over time, which ultimately culminate in ungodly behavior.

Don't go into dating with the goal of romance, but the goal of spending time with your brother or sister. When you begin a relationship, a rule of thumb is, don't do anything physically you wouldn't do with your brother or sister.

    We're living in a society that is more distracted than any in the history of the world

    "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." - John 16:33

    Nothing in this world will ever live up to the expectations you have for it.

    Jesus says we will have troble. That's what this world is about.

    Relationships: The source of our Greatest Joys

    Modified: 2008-03-09 15:26:11

    The fact that relationships are one of the greatest sources of joy in life is true. I've been thinking about this quote since I read it yesterday in the way back from Letourneau where I have really enjoy talking with, meeting, and hanging out with people more than ever before this semester. I think I may have almost been transformed into a talkative people person which I find quite shocking and gladdening. :)

    From "A Light in Dark Places" by Derek W. H. Thomas in the March 2008 issue of Tabletalk (emphasis added):

    God created us, and then re-created us in Christ, so as to form deep and lasting relationships; they are the source of our greatest joys. But no relationship surpasses our fellowship with Jesus Christ in the Gospel.

    Some Good Ones

    Modified: 2008-04-29 14:42:01

    No king is saved by the size of his army;
    no warrior escapes by his great strength.

    A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
    despite all its great strength it cannot save.

    But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
    on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

    to deliver them from death
    and keep them alive in famine.

    We wait in hope for the LORD;
    he is our help and our shield.

    --Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.
    --Charles H. Spurgeon.

    --"...Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as broided
    hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be
    that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
    which is of great worth in God's sight."
    --I Peter 3:3-4

    --"..nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am
    persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him
    against that day."

      I don't think so. By the way, which Elijah do you mean? Elijah Wood? Elijah from the Bible?

      Thanks,

      Elijah
