This Morning with God

Luke 24:1-12

  1. The women were the first to find out that Jesus had risen from the dead.
  2. I don't know. I should daily try to seek God through acts of love.
  3. The women were probably bewildered because they had come to anoint Jesus' body and instead found angels that told them Jesus was alive.
  4. The angels were referring to the proof of Jesus own words before He died when He said that He would rise again on the 3rd day.
  5. Joy, shock, and disbelief.
  6. I might try to explain how the angels had appeared suddenly and reminded us of Jesus's promise that He would rise again in 3 days.
  7. They did not understand of believe the women.
  8. I don't know.

Daily Bible Reading

2 Kings 18-19

  • 2 Kings 18:5-7 - Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, did not cease to follow Him, and kept the Lord's commands. Because of Hezekiah's obedience, the Lord was with him and he was successful in whatever he undertook.
    • So success can be a direct result of obedience to God

What Happened

  1. 2 Kings 18:17-37 - Sennacherib comes up and threatens to attack Jerusalem
  2. 2 Kings 18:30, 2 Kings 18:30b-35, 2 Kings 19:10-12 - Sennacherib insults the Lord.
  3. 2 Kings 19:14-19 - Hezekiah turns to God for help and prays for deliverance.
  4. 2 Kings 19:20-34 - Isiah sends word to Hezekiah that God has heard His prayer and that the Lord will defend the city.
  5. 2 Kings 19:35 - The angel of the Lord went out and put to death 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp.
  6. 2 Kings 19:36 - Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew.
  7. 2 Kings 19:37 - One day, while Sennacherib was worshipping his false god, his own sons killed him.

We see from this that Hezekiah trusted God and turned to Him for help. God was faithful and saved Hezekiah out of the hand of Sennacherib. Sennacherib the on who had insulted the One True God, was killed while he was worshipping his false God.
