Hail STORM @ LETU!

2008-Apr-01 16:12

On Saturday night we had a large hail storm at Letourneau. It was exciting! Sadly, quite a few cars got broken wind shields and a few windows were broken.

    Hey Elijah,

This is not a comment but rather a question. I ran across your blog while doing some research on the internet... We are looking into LeTourneau as a possibility for our son's college and I'm wondering if you could give us your perspective of majoring in Engineering there. My son is thinking he will do poorly in calculus (not a real math lover -- but making a solid B in pre-calculus) and therefore if he wants to hold on to any scholarship through maintaining a good GPA he will likely need to consider the technology degree which, as I understand it, is little less math intensive and more hands-on (in many respects this would actually probably be a better fit for him.... but we just aren't sure if this would be the wisest route. Perhaps he is capable of handling the calculus with a little tutoring.... We certainly don't want to hinder any of his future job possibilities by not seeking the full engineering degree...).

How have you handled learning Calculus? And If you don't mind my asking even further, was your SAT above or below 1300? (pr 2000 if you are including the new writing section). knowing how other students similar to him have handled calculus will help us to assess better the direction of major he should consider. Thanks for your help, and any other info you may feel led to share. Feel free to respond to my e-mail privately rather than on your blog, if you wish.
    Blessings,
    C.L. from NC
