Fix a lawn mower that won't start

Often, fixing a mower that won't start is very easy:

  1. First of course, make sure their is plenty of gas and oil in the mower ;)
  2. Next, check the air filter and make sure it's not really dirty.
  3. Also, check the spark plug. I've found that a dirty spark plug can be cleaned out using a bobby pin. You just need to bend it apart and use the nice flat side to scrape the gunk out of the spark plug.
  4. Next thing you should do is try bending the tab of the spark plug so that there is less of a gap. (I think doing this is what got my lawn mower working today)

Also, I've found a good way to give the mower a helping hand (especially on a cold day).

If it still doesnt start after doing Elijahs steps...

Remove the spark plug, and spray some deodorant or air freshener in the hole for about 2 seconds, then quickly replace the spark plug.

This gives it a bit of a boost at the start to get it on its way.

    God Bless!
