Intro

Mark 8:34

Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Ask yourself: "If Jesus is your God, Does God care?" "Does God care what movies and TV shows we are watching?"

  • "Where is the line for you that you won't cross? What is acceptable to you? What is acceptable to God?"
  • You can easily argue with me and silence me, but what about God?
  • Stats show little difference between Christians and non-Christians in what they watch.
  • Stats prove nothing about the rightness of things.
  • The church is embracing more of the world than it should.
  • This calls for incredible discernment.
  • If you're not a Christian, this whole discussion does not matter. (I.E. This will only make sense to Christians who want to follow what God wants.)
  • You need to learn how to take up your cross and follow.
  • It's hard to be a pastor, you not only have to deal with your own sin and temptations, but also the sin and temptations of others.
  • Our goal in exploring this topic is to reveal God's heart so we can wrap our hearts around God.
  • About the movie 300 (ScreenIt.com review of 300) the pastor Bo was interested after seeing a commercial for it. But he got a check in his Spirit and read up on it before seeing it.

    Paster Bo decided not to go to 300 for the following reasons

    1. "I love God. I want to honor God and not pursue something out of bound of what He loves."
    2. "I want to protect myself."

Does it matter to God what we allow into our minds?

Romans 12:2:

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

"Something has to enter the mind to renew it. Something has to enter the mind to taint it."

Philippians 4:8:

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

The verse says to "Let your mind dwell on these things. Let them be in you and live in you. Let them be predominant.
